Le Kotchi Traiteur - Excellent Quality, Excellent Price

Hidden away on avenue de L'Harpe, one of Ouchy's many side streets one can find Le Kotchi. Outside rather misleadingly it claims to be a shop specializing in arts de la table. This is partially true however it also provides the most phenomenal sushi, unadon, katsu and other japanese treats to go. Made fresh, bento box at 13 CHF is very popular for a business lunch. The Sushi Formule with 9 pieces of sushi + a salad at 22 francs is also a steal. Match your lunch with a japanese green tea and you have oriental happiness.

Pla Tu Thong - Cheap and Delicious

Thai food at its best and cheapest. Reminiscent of a Patpong street stall this charming little traiteur offers you a very satisfying dish + rice deal at 15chf, also on offer are appetizers like fish balls, crab claws, spring rolls and other delicious oriental delights. Open every day but Sunday, the small restaurant is in between Place de l'Ours and Tunnel. I would recommend parking at Tunnel. One can eat in the restaurant for a small surcharge however the food stays warm enough to take home. I ordered the beef in red curry with some crab fried rice. Utterly scrumptious. The place is owned by a thai family and the mother and father cook while the daughter serves. Home cooking is good cooking. This goes highly recommended.

Arirang Korean Restaurant - Not bad but for better options go to Geneva

Korean BBQ

Arirang is located opposite the Coop in St. Francois, difficult to stumble upon unless you are really looking for it. Run by a middle aged Korean lady who is very friendly. The menu offers authentic Korean dishes including the famous barbecue. Also on offer are bulgogi, kimbap, bibimbap and Paejon. I usually have the Dolsotbibimbap which is rice served in a stone bowl which is constantly cooking with meat, vegetables and an egg. To top it all off some fiery Korean chili bean paste. This is definitely not the best Korean I have ever eaten. However, they have the monopoly in Lausanne as there is no competitor. It is also not the worst Korean I have ever eaten. So if you want to try something new, I can say the taste is relatively authentic. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side.
