Chick N More - A new healthy fast food concept

When one needs food on the go, aside from a sandwich and salad, there are not many healthy options. Chick n More aims to capitalize on this trend with their slogan Fit.Food.Fast. The menu offers chicken and vegetarian options.  The uniqueness of the concept is that everything is baked. The chicken filet steak, the legs of chicken, the wings are all prepared in the oven. This includes the sides like the potato wedges. This definitely reduces the guilt. I opted for a mediterrenean chicken filet sandwich which was quite delish and some chicken wings. I recommend this if you are searching for some alternatives.

Le Kotchi Traiteur - Excellent Quality, Excellent Price

Hidden away on avenue de L'Harpe, one of Ouchy's many side streets one can find Le Kotchi. Outside rather misleadingly it claims to be a shop specializing in arts de la table. This is partially true however it also provides the most phenomenal sushi, unadon, katsu and other japanese treats to go. Made fresh, bento box at 13 CHF is very popular for a business lunch. The Sushi Formule with 9 pieces of sushi + a salad at 22 francs is also a steal. Match your lunch with a japanese green tea and you have oriental happiness.

Poco Loco - awesome after a hangover

Went to Poco Loco with a couple of lovely ladies the other night. I have to say that the food is reasonably priced. The restaurant has a deck in the summer time offering views of the craziness of the Flon. I commenced with a nacho deluxe which was a very filling appetizer and worth sharing with another person. Guacamole, Nacho Cheese, Beans, Sour cream and ofcourse the nachos, it was delicisious. For the main course I tried the Puebla Platter which offered me quesadillas, enchiladas and other items from the menu this was huge and for 30 CHF very value for money. my accompaniment ordered the fajitas which were presented quite well on a sizzling platter.

I had a delicious Mango Margarita which was slightly overpriced for the quantity offered.

All in all a decent Sunday meal, but nothing super spectacular. Will satisfy the Mexican craving.

Le Café des Amis - A place where the name speaks for itself

Located in a non-famous area, it can be easily missed if you have not previously heard of the place!
In my opinion, it would be a shame to miss it !
You will be welcomed by "Le Baron" as if you were the most exclusive and important client in the restaurant.
The menu is pretty restricted as it proposes three salads to start and a couple of dishes to follow.
Famous for the quality of their meat, I ordered a Tartare de boeuf served with incredible "shoe-string fries".

My lovely co-tester decided to go for the "Bavette à l'échalotte" served with the same fries and some vegetables. We were both pleasently surprised.

To accompany our meat dishes, we ordered a bottle of italian red wine "Neprica" for 39 CHF. Pretty good but needed to be chilled up for a while.

The service was extremely friendly from the beginning until the moment we left !
No wonder this place is full of regular customers.

Le Pinocchio

Arguably competing with Mario's for Lausanne's best pizza, Le Pinocchio incorporates all the facets of a standard italian diner from aging charismatic waiters to a menu so vast that the first hour is spent just reading it! The restaurant is located on Avenue De L'harpe which leads to Ouchy and offers spectacular summer views. The ingredients used at Pinocchio are high quality and one of the best pasta dishes is the spaghetti with truffles and bolets. However, what clinches their position in our top 10 is their pizza. Sufficiently crispy, an easy thickness and perfectly cooked. I personally order the pizza bolognese however my colleagues are always satisfied with whatever pizza they take.

Les Ripps - Vrai Dimsum, Great Deal

Les Ripps has gone through many different facades through its time at the corner of Place de la Riponne. Now it is a chinese restaurant with a different twist on the normal asian fare in Lausanne. At les Ripps you can eat dimsum. Small dumplings and other dishes which you check off a menu and are brought piping hot to your table. Each dish is priced at 6 CHF and you can get a solid meal for a 20. From the standard Har Gao (shrimp dumplings) and Char siu Bao (pork rolls) you can also get more exotic items like chicken feet. Service is fast and there is always room as the restaurant is huge. It is open on Sunday
